Every year around the holidays the Ballard FFA sells fruit, cookie dough, meat and cheese and wreaths. Members sell to friends and family, and some even go blitzing, door to door around the community.
For example on Thursday evening, Nov. 8th, a group of members sold around Huxley. They braved the cold and sold to multiple houses.
“I think people were happy to see us out trying to raise money for the chapter,” Sierra Knight (12) says.
“Not only does our annual chapter fruit sales help us raise money to fund the activities of our chapter. Like leadership conferences and service projects within the community,” Grace Long (12) says. “But they help our members set effective goals and learn how to reach those goals to further our organization.”
This year the chapter raised just over $10,000. Last year members sold $7,000 with a goal of $8,000, and each member had a set goal of $250. Next year the chapter hopes to reach $11,000.
